Dust laden air is drawn
from its source through an extractor hood connected to the
inlet of the unit by a flexible or rigid duct system. On entering
the unit, the dust laden air is given a sudden change of direction
which, together with the reduction of velocity, causes the
heavier entrained particles to settle in the dust tray. This
action also has the effect of destroying sparks.
The finer particles of dust are deposited onto the inside
of the bag before the clean filtered air continues through
the fan, to be discharged back into the workshop via an attenuation
chamber and louvre grille.
Filter bag cleaning is achieved by vigorous
operating of the conveniently mounted handle at the front
of the cabinet, which is carried out when the fan has been
switched off and come to rest. The operation of the shaker
has the effect of loosening the collected dust from inside
the filter bag which falls into the dust tray ready for disposal.
